Realise Your Dream Winners Announced

After months of reading applications, interviews and anticipation the 2011 Realise Your Dream winners were awarded at last night’s event.

Dominique & Dan Angeloro (Soda_Jerk), Tom Holloway, Briony Stewart, Ivan Dixon & Greg Sharp (Rubber House) and Patrick Clair were announced as this year’s winners.
The five winners were selected from a field of over 700 talented Australians. The successful “Dreamers” have backgrounds in various creative industries ranging from visual arts, writing, graphics, animation and play writing.

Realise Your Dream is now in its ninth year and the lucky winners have each received a $8,000 NAB Cash Passport, airfares from Virgin Atlantic, and a personally tailored itinerary of meetings, placements, and mentoring with industry leaders. They will also become connected with Britain’s world renowned creative talent presenting an opportunity to expand their careers in Australia and the UK.

The range of talent we saw enter this year was vast and they have done fantastically well to surpass such stiff competition. They really are in a privileged position to move forward with their careers, and begin make great industry connections.” said British Council Director Nick Marchand.

The party to announce the winners was attended by some 200 guests, representing Australia’s vibrant creative sector. Held at Merivale’s new Beresford Upstairs, triple j Breakfast’s Tom Ballard and Alex Dyson entertained the crowd while drinks from Absolut and Mountain Goat Beer lent to the atmosphere as did tunes by Nina Las Vegas ensured that a good time was had by all.
